EastEnders fans were left squirming over a scene involving Phil Mitchell.

Over the past ten months, viewers have been on eggshells as they have patiently awaited to find out who the mystery killer and her victim is. But as the final scenes of the soap opera draw closer, viewers are on the edge of their seats as the dramatic storyline comes to a climax.

But one scene left fans at home feeling extremely uncomfortable as notorious gangster Phil Mitchell swapped guns and killing people for being domesticated and preparing the Christmas turkey for his family as they sat down for dinner.

In one scene, Phil was seen stuffing the turkey before a joking Alfie Moon stormed into the kitchen and exclaimed: "That's a bit brazen, isn't it Phil? Hand up another bird," as Phil's wife Kat Slater and the children made their way into the kitchen.

Fans, however, couldn't believe what they had just witnessed as they flocked to social media. Taking to X, formerly known as Twitter, one said: "I'm sorry but it's a bit late to be stuffing the turkey, Phil!? It should be in the oven by now #EastEnders." A second penned: "Phil Mitchell fisting a Turkey is severely unnerving #EastEnders."

Another added: "Phil’s stuffing the turkey… so that's why it's on after the watershed #EastEnders #TheSix." "Phil Mitchell stuffing a turkey is not a sight I ever want to see again #Eastenders," commented another. Meanwhile, one stunned viewer commented: "Nearly spat my drink out at that shot of Phil stuffing the turkey #Eastenders."

Elsewhere, viewers were left far from impressed as the soap was late to be broadcasted across screens and on BBC iPlayer, with Call The Midwife running behind schedule. Taking to social media, fans fumed over the late time for the soap, which kicked off this evening at 9.45pm on BBC One and will be one for an hour.

One wrote: "Missing #EastEnders tonight as i have to go to bed for work so catch up tomorrow. Why put it on so late," whilst a second added: "#EastEnders is on a bit to late to be honest." A third said: "It’s so late omg I’ll be older than Kathy by the time this episode comes on #EastEnders," with a fourth writing: "Why, oh, why have they decided to put #EastEnders on so late? I really want to watch it but my eyes are saying different!!"

EastEnders returns to BBC One on December 26 at 8:25pm.
