Mary Earps admits she wants to say more about Man Utd future in cryptic update

England goalkeeper Mary Earps has admitted she is keeping quiet regarding claims about her Manchester United future, while labelling some of the rumours as 'untrue and unjust'.

The 30-year-old was crowned BBC Sports Personality of the Year on Tuesday evening after she helped England reach an historic 2023 Women's World Cup final, in which she memorably denied Spain striker Jennifer Hermoso from the spot to keep Sarina Wiegman's side in hopes of victory.

The summer's displays only fuelled rumours in regards to the shotstopper's future with Manchester United. Earps' contract at the club expires in June and she is yet to agree a new deal.

And Earps has spoken out on the conjecture amid the upcoming January transfer window, though she denied to commit her future anywhere.

"I don't know what happens currently," she told BBC Sport. Earps added: "What I will say is there is a lot of stuff that's been put out there that isn't true. I've remained quiet for a reason.

"I feel I've behaved really professionally and with a lot of integrity through this whole situation. I play with heart and passion in everything I do and I drive standards. A lot of stuff that's been put out, isn't true."

She added: "I want to say more but I can't at this stage and it's really hard for me to sit [and be] quiet when I see a lot of things that are not right. "I think it's an injustice but I know the appropriate thing to do is focus on my football and see what happens from there."

United denied a world-record bid for a women's goalkeeper in the summer from Women's Super League rivals Arsenal, stirring further conjecture that Earps would be sold in the January transfer window lest United risk suffering another summer in which a star player departs for nothing.

While Arsenal are known admirers, European giants Barcelona and Paris Saint-Germain are also among the big name clubs to express interest in acquiring Earps' services recently.

Earps has made clear her ambitions of winning the Champions League, and further underlined this ambition when speaking about her future: "I want to win the lot. One day it would be my absolute dream to win the Champions League and the World Cup - that would be amazing."

United were knocked out of the Champions League second-round of qualifying to PSG, putting an abrupt end to the club's first-ever European jaunt. United currently sit fourth in the WSL table, four points off the European spots.

When the transfer window re-opens in January, Earps is free to speak to clubs outside the WSL, as well as continue negotiations surrounding a potential new contract with United.

Earps' latest accolade caps off a remarkable two years under England manager Sarina Wiegman, in which she has established herself as one of women's football's most influential players both on and off the pitch.
