Judy Finnigan has admitted her personal reasons for being annoyed at daughter Chloe Madeley's reality TV series.
The TV star and her husband, Good Morning Britain host Richard Madeley, made cameo appearances in ITVBe's A Family Affair to support Chloe as she documented the highs and lows of her marriage to now estranged husband James Haskell.
In the show, Judy is seen popping in to Chloe and James' London home - which provided the setting for many of their disagreements - as well as taking the couple out for lunch with their granddaughter Bodhi. And while viewers were left worrying for Chloe's increasingly volatile life with James, it seems Judy was left unimpressed with other aspects of the show.
Speaking to Woman's Own magazine Judy, 75, said she was heartbroken to watch the show back and think she looked 'undeniably ancient.' "You know the old troupe when you're walking along, glance into a shop window and think 'who's that old crone', before realising with gruesome dismay, that it's you? Or you look at the mirror and see your long-dead mother staring back at you."
She added: "I caught myself on the telly the other day, filmed dropping in at my daughter's house as a doting grandma in her new baby-parenting series. And I looked at my undeniably ancient self with complete horror. It comes to us all of course."
Chloe Madeley returns to work weeks after giving birth as she 'needs the money'Chloe's reality TV series was on air at the time she announced that she had split with James. The mum of one, said she had wanted to wait until the series had stopped airing before releasing a statement confirming speculation of her break-up. But rumours were rife and so the couple made the joint decision to announce the end of their marriage.
Despite the breakdown of their relationship, the pair have done their best to co-parent their 16-month old daughter. Taking to social media last weekend, James shared a selfie of him with Chloe and their daughter out for dinner. He captioned the post: "Team meal out."
Fans wasted no time in posting comments in response to his post. One user said: "Co-parenting is awkward and hard but they are still doing it with dignity and respect and that's a very important message to spread. Well done guys, your little girl will thank you later on."
Another person added: "Well done, I have no idea how you are doing this. Team co-parenting the right way." Meanwhile a third added: "Clearly just two people doing what they need to for the most important little person in the photo. Fair play to you both."
This comes after James made a swipe at Chloe when he appeared on stage to broadcast the final leg of his World Cup Afterparty: The Good, The Bad and The Ugly rugby podcast tour. Joined by Mike Tindall and Alex Payne, he told fans in Bath that his ex was "unreasonable, overly critical and insensitive, and unfair in arguments".
He went on to jokingly say that he was hiding his money in an offshore bank account to avoid a hefty payout when the pair finally divorce. He used Mike, who is the the husband of Princess Anne's daughter, Zara, as way to make the cruel jibe. He started off saying: ""Mike's personality, actually as Zara told us, is 'annoyingly honest Mike'."
He added: "He sounds like a great person, but he's not. He comes out after eight bottles of rosé and three bottles of red wine. Then he basically tells you everything that you have ever done wrong and where you have gone wrong with complete disregard for any sensitivity - or anything he has ever done wrong - and also is completely out of context. And he won't be reasoned with and he will not be argued with, right... sounds like my wife actually." He finished the gag: "Ex-wife actually. No. It's not official yet. Don't put that in the papers!"
