Four teenagers have been charged after shocking footage showed a student brutally beaten and slammed into concrete shattering his skull.

Chinua Leefatt, 15, Jordan Thompson, 16, Caleb Hensley, 17, and Sylvester Hicks Jr, 16, have been charged with felony battery after they were accused of savagely beating a student outside Marjory Stoneman Douglas High School in Florida - which was previously the scene of one of the worst school shootings in US history. Three of the teens attend Marjory Stoneman Douglas while 15-year-old Leefatt went to Coral Glades High School. Jahmeer Beautziel, 17, has not yet been arrested.

The shocking video shows a teenage boy carrying the victim over his shoulder before slamming his head onto the concrete, fracturing his skull, and leaving him unconscious. At least two attackers continued to punch the boy after he was forced to the ground.

According to a friend of the victim, 15 people had been chasing him before the attack - footage of which has gone viral and shocked the community - which happened as he was walking towards the school car park. Several teenage boys are seen to approach the unnamed student to try to help him, but he remains stone-cold.

Patrick Fox, a friend of the victim, told WSVN: "I was there when they started chasing him, but when I left, he was just in an ambulance leaving, so I heard that he got... he fractured his skull or something."

Valentina Tora, another Marjory Stoneman Douglas student, witnessed the horrendous fight. “It was horrifying. It was horrible to see, but it was just a horrible thing to happen,” she said.

The victim was hospitalised with non-life-threatening injuries following the assault and is at home recovering from the traumatic ordeal. Detectives with Coral Springs police made the arrests overnight on Thursday, with all four suspects taken to the Juvenile Assessment Center.

The teens have all been charged with one count of felony battery, which cops said reflects "the serious nature of their actions."

"Our detectives have worked tirelessly around the clock, along with our law enforcement partners to include the Broward Sheriff's Office and the Broward County State Attorney's Office, to swiftly identify and apprehend the individuals involved," police said in a statement.

"The safety of our community and schools remains our top priority,' cops added. "This continues to be an ongoing investigation where additional arrests may be forthcoming. We want to assure the public that such behaviour will not be tolerated."
