Tesco customers are being warned over bags of festive stuffing mix, which may contain moths.
The Christmas lunch essential has been subject to an urgent recall by the supermarket following concerns about there being insects inside. Anyone who bought the 130g packs of the mix is being urged to bring it back for a full refund.
A warning issued through the Food Standards Agency (FSA) on Wednesday said: "We are recalling a single batch of Tesco Finest Apple & Cranberry Stuffing Mix due to the possible presence of moths which makes the product unfit for human consumption."
The bizarre recall left no further explanation of how the winged insects may have ended up inside the stuffing mix packs, but said only that it was "unsafe to eat". The warning applies to all Cranberry & Apple Stuffing Mix packs with the best before date of September 2024.
A spokesperson said: "Please do not consume this product and return it to store where a full refund will be given. No receipt is required. Tesco apologises to our customers for any inconvenience caused. If you require further details, please contact Customer Services directly on: (UK) 0800 505 555 or (ROI) 1800 248123."

The recall comes after the retails giants issued another plea for customers to return bags of frozen peas this week following fears they may be unsafe. The FSA warned customers about the chain's Growers Harvest Garden Peas due to a possible contamination with an unknown type of berry, which may make the product unsafe to eat.
If there is a problem with a food product that means it should not be sold, then it might be "withdrawn" (taken off the shelves) or "recalled" (when customers are asked to return the product). The FSA issues Product Withdrawal Information Notices and Product Recall Information Notices to let consumers and local authorities know about problems associated with food.
