DWP Cold Weather Payments full list of 309 postcode areas set to receive cash

Cold Weather Payments are being paid out to over 309 areas of the UK as temperatures across the country dip below freezing.

The current cold temperatures have triggered the Government Cold Weather Payment scheme, as some areas across the country have seen temperatures dip below freezing. The scheme - which opened in November and will run until March 2024 - provides cash payments of £25 to people living in England and Wales when temperatures drop below zero degrees for seven days.

The money is usually paid automatically by the Department for Work and Pensions ( DWP ) to those eligible within 14 working days. To be eligible for a £25 payment, you will need to be claiming one of several DWP benefits which include either Pension Credit, Income Support, Job Seekers Allowance or Universal Credit.

Cold Weather Payments for winter 2023/24 are being paid out in areas which include Greater Manchester, Yorkshire, Cumbria, Northern Ireland and the North East of England. The DWP has not yet published an official full list of postcode areas which will receive the Cold Weather Payments. However, MPs in the affected areas have been informed and you can check whether your postcode is due a payment on the Government website here. Some areas will be receiving two Cold Weather Payments as they have been triggered twice. Those eligible for the money in these areas will receive £50.
