Meghan Markle thought her dad was "thoughtful, inspiring, and hardworking" before their bitter feud, with the Duchess once expressing her admiration for Thomas Markle.
Meghan's father Thomas split from her mother Doria Ragland when the Duchess-to-be was very young. But despite the split, the former actress was rather close to her dad as she grew up. However, when Meghan began dating Prince Harry, the father-daughter duo became more and more distant.
Back in 2018 when Meghan's wedding to Prince Harry was within sight, the relationship she had with her father was in full view of the public. Prior to the Royal Wedding, Kensington Palace confirmed that Meghan's father would be in attendance and would be giving her away.

But soon after this, Thomas became embroiled in a huge scandal after he was caught staging paparazzi photos of himself preparing for the wedding in exchange for payment. He then confirmed that following the scandal, he would not attend the wedding, with him saying that the whole situation left him looking "stupid and hammy".
Oprah Winfrey snubs Harry and Meghan as expert claims 'the tide has turned'Since this incident, Thomas has been through a slew of health scares, with him having a heart attack that forced him to miss his daughter's wedding. It has since been claimed that Meghan has not seen her father since before her marriage to Prince Harry.
But as the feud between the father-daughter duo continues, with Meghan claiming to feel "betrayed" by her father conversing with the UK press, the Duchess' undying love for her now-estranged-father has been uncovered in blog posts from nine years ago.
Back in June 2014, Meghan wrote a blog post for her website, The Tig. The blog post was all about Father's Day and how she looked up to her dad, gushing about how he "took apart two Barbie boxed sets (because you could only buy a white Barbie or a black one), and made a custom one to bring home".
Writing for her website at the time, Meghan went on to add: "In celebrating Father’s Day, I think of so many moments with my dad. Our club sandwich and fruit smoothie tradition post my tap and ballet class - classes, which by the way, he religiously took me to on Saturday mornings after working 75+ hours a week as a lighting director."
She then touched on the fishing trips they went on "and the commitment he made to lighting my high school musicals so that they felt as grand as a Broadway show". Meghan also wrote about "the blood, sweat and tears this man (who came from so little in a small town of Pennsylvania, where Christmas stockings were filled with oranges, and dinners were potatoes and spam) invested in my future so that I could grow up to have so much".
At the end of the post, Meghan wrote a gushing note to her beloved father, penning: "To my dad - my thoughtful, inspiring, hardworking Daddy - Happy Father’s Day. ‘If I had all the water in the world, I’d give all the water to you…’ (You won’t get that quote, but he will. And for Father’s Day, that’s all that matters)."
