Cher recently made history as the first female star to have a Billboard No.1 for the seventh decade in a row.

And the pop icon has no plans to stop there, as she is due to start work on a new album and is in talks for a new tour. Speaking at London’s Odeon Luxe, Cher admitted: “I haven’t made anything for a long time, and Alexander [Edwards, her music exec boyfriend] said to me: ‘Why aren’t you singing?’

“I said, ‘I don’t know, I wasn’t inspired’, and then he brought me some songs that were really great that I’m gonna put on this album I’m about to do. I’m in the groove and I might as well do it because I really forgot how much I love singing. I’m going to start it in February.”

When asked by radio hosts Harriet Scott and Ken Bruce if she would be taking to the road again, Cher nodded and said: “We’re talking about it now.” The admission comes after we revealed the music legend was poised to announce a series of concert dates in Las Vegas.

Prior to her latest album, Cher Christmas, the singer had not recorded any new material for five years – but now she seems to be on a roll. And she had fans at the Odeon in stitches with her straight-talking attitude and incredible anecdotes – including the moment she stuck two fingers up at the Oscars with her revenge dress (“As you can see, I got my manual on how to dress as a serious actress.”)

Cher also admitted that in the future, she’d love to see an ABBA-style avatar of herself – but hates the idea of AI imitating her. She said: “I’ve worked my whole life to be who I am… I don’t want some machine doing me.”

And when asked about future collaborations, she named Sir Elton John as the artist she’d most like to work with in the future. Cher said: “I’ve known him since he first got to America and we’ve been friends ever since. I’d love to sing with him.” Over to you, Elton…
