Stacey Slater's downfall has been sealed by BBC EastEnders' viewers after a major soap fail.
The market trader who in recent months has become a victim of stalking and harassment had hoped by tricking her stalker, Theo Hawthorne, she would hold all of the power. However, viewers believe that this is leading her to a major downfall.
Former school teacher Theo's fate is to be decided by a jury after Stacey failed to secure a Stalking Protection Order (SPO) against Theo. Viewers will recall the slimy character secretly subscribing to Stacey's Secret Cam account and claiming to have been in a relationship with her while he was tutoring her eldest child, Lilly.
While Theo has continually maintained his innocence, Stacey is hoping that she is able to seduce him into pleading guilty when he faces a judge. Having received a message from him, she agrees to meet Theo at a restaurant, much to the dismay of her family and wife, Eve, who explained he was breaching his bail conditions by contacting her.
As their conversations continue, Theo finally admits that he could have acted differently while trying to get Stacey's attention, before he asked whether she ever believed that they could be a couple. In a bid to make Theo side with her, Stacey agreed before explaining that new relationships could often be seen as "overwhelming" and their interactions on Secret Cam made things tricky for them.
EastEnders' Jake Wood's snap of son has fans pointing out the pair's likenessTheo went on to tell Stacey he would "do anything" before asking whether she believed there was hope they could make a relationship work. "They don't know you like I do," she commented when Theo revealed he'd been branded a "stalker" and "sadist".
However, she explained to her stalker that she would never be able to date anybody who lies and can't admit to making mistakes. Trying to trick him, she said: "There is a way, show me that you're sorry, plead guilty..." "But if they lock me up, you won't see me, we won't be together," he said.
Stacey added: "We weren't together when we did Secret Cam and we still made that work, didn't we?" Despite pleading with Theo, he instantly wrapped their meeting and told Stacey to head home, all while having a menacing look on his face. Fans now believe that Stacey's meeting with him could go against her in the court.
Taking to X, formerly known as Twitter to share their thoughts, one viewer penned: "I bet Theo recorded what Stacey said to him and he's gonna use it against her in court if EastEnders do this again their pure evil #eastenders." A second added: "I really don't get WTF Stacey thinks she's doing. #Eastenders."
"Stacey strikes again with her bright ideas #Eastenders," commented a third. While a fourth perplexed fan tweeted: "I really don't know how Stacey could be so stupid #Eastenders." "Why would Stacey meet up with Theo he can use this against her what tf is going on with EastEnders writing lately I'm so serious #EastEnders," said another. Meanwhile, another furious fan added: "Stacey meeting Theo before plea hearing in #Eastenders how thick can you make characters."
