CEL Solicitors, the UK’s biggest fraud recovery experts, has helped consumers claim over £50 million lost to scammers.

The law firm, which is rated excellent on TrustPilot, assists fraud and scam victims who feel more could have been done to protect them from fraud.

Victims of fraud can report scams directly to their bank and ask for a refund if they think the bank could have done more to protect them.

If the bank says no, they can also complain directly to the Financial Ombudsman. However, thousands of consumers are choosing CEL Solicitors to represent them in their fraud and scam claims.

CEL Solicitors investigate the fraud and prepare a robust case on behalf of their clients. They can also bring legal proceedings, where a scammer can be identified.

Jessica Hampson, Chairwoman at CEL Solicitors, said: “We’re currently receiving over a thousand enquiries every week from people who’ve been targeted in complex scams and are looking for expert guidance.

“They can of course go it alone; in fact, we would always recommend that people notify their bank and the police as soon as they realise they’ve been targeted by scammers. However, for those who don’t know how best to represent themselves, then we are here to help”.

Raising awareness of fraud and scams

A 2022 ONS report estimated that 3.7 million fraud offences were committed in the UK last year. However, it is believed a lot more cases go unreported due to the stigma and shame associated with being scammed.

CEL Solicitors is looking to change that by raising awareness of fraud and increasing education around scams through its scam awareness radio campaign, in partnership with Bauer Media and voiced by Julia Bradbury, during International Fraud Awareness Week.

Julia said: "There are so many sophisticated scams out there. It’s been a pleasure to work alongside the experts at CEL Solicitors to help challenge the stigma and change misconceptions associated with scams and fraud.

“My hope is that this campaign can help people become more aware and protect themselves and their loved ones against scammers!”

The tip of the iceberg

CEL Solicitors is now the country’s number one consumer law firm according to Review Solicitors.

Paul Hampson, CEL Solicitors’ CEO said: “Fraud is the number one crime affecting people in the UK right now. We’re seeing first-hand the devastating impact this is having on people from across the whole UK but this is likely just the tip of the iceberg.

"Many people feel too embarrassed to come forward after a scam but they shouldn’t. It’s easy to think you’re the only one, and worry you will be judged, but scammers are sophisticated and it's happening on an industrial scale - so if you’ve been scammed, you are not alone.”

CEL Solicitors is authorised and regulated by the Solicitors Regulation Authority. Find out more about their services at celsolicitors.co.uk
