Formula One reporter Florian Konig has shared the "same answer" he gives every time a fan asks about racing legend Michael Schumacher's health.

Schumacher, 54, has been away from the public eye since a life-changing skiing accident in 2013. A new five-part documentary called 'Being Michael Schumacher ' may give us some insight into how he's doing ten years after his terrible accident, and German presenter Konig has now given his view on the Schumacher family's decision to keep the Ferrari icon's health private.

Speaking to German broadcaster ARD before the documentary's release, Konig said: "Whenever someone speaks to me, at the airport or elsewhere, the question often comes up: 'Do you know how Michael is doing? Do you know what's going on now?'"

"I always say the same thing: I don't ask the family at all. I absolutely respect the fact that they only gave very sparse information, and I think that's right."

The 56-year-old added: "I notice from these questions that people are still interested and that they still share in his fate."

Speaking to Grosvenor Sport on the back of those comments, Schumacher's former Benetton team-mate Johnny Herbert said: "There's never any news. What we do know is we never hear any positive news.

"That's the horrible thought that he is still not able to be close to the Michael that we all remember. And that is very sad."

And Timo Glock told LuckyBlock: "I've also known other members of his family for a very long time, but I try not to impose on their privacy. I respect their right to be private, and I don't discuss Michael's condition with them." He added: ''I spent a lot of time off-track with Michael, and it didn't matter what we did.

''Michael kept himself to himself on the track, and he didn't open up too much. It was, however, the opposite away from the track. He was very open, super friendly, and a really nice guy. People thought he wasn't!''
