Accrington Stanley owner Andy Holt took a shot at Wrexham co-owner Ryan Reynolds after his side defeated the Red Dragons 2-0 in League Two.

"Accrington 2 Hollywood nil," wrote Holt on X. "I think @VancityReynolds should cut prices by a tenner @Wrexham_AFC. Safe journey home folks. Get that on @netflix Ryan lad."

Holt's comments came amid a back-and-forth over ticket prices. Accrington Stanley upped its rate by £5 before the match, blaming higher demand that forced them to hire extra security personnel.

Wrexham responded by acting in the opposite direction. They reduced the price of matchday tickets by £5 for the return fixture on March 2. That move angered Holt, who wrote before the match that "when costs are already high @Wrexham_AFC the last thing football needs is stupid mistimed statements."

He added: "It's surprising how stupid given a former CEO of @EFL is employed by you. Let's have a great day for all fans safely, whatever the outcome on the pitch."

After Saturday's result, Wrexham are in fourth place in League Two, while Accrington Stanley moved up to seventh. This is Wrexham's first season since earning dramatic promotion last campaign, with Reynolds and co-owner Rob McElhenney credited with helping inspire a club turnaround.

Reynolds and McElhenney are both famous Hollywood actors. They help orchestrate an annual Netflix docuseries about the inner workings of their team, leading to international interest in the Dragons.

Despite their fame, Reynolds and McElhenney regularly attend matches at the Racecourse Ground. After last season's success, they rode buses at Wrexham's celebratory parade and brought the whole squad to Las Vegas for a week of partying.

On Saturday, though, their team conceded goals in the 50th and 73rd minutes, much to Holt's delight. Wrexham hadn't lost since late September.

"Obviously disappointed, we've had a terrific unbeaten run," said Wrexham manager Phil Parkinson. "I thought first half in patches we did OK. Had probably the best chance, didn't take it. But the game became very scrappy with the conditions, the referee, etcetera.

"Obviously they got that first goal, and to be fair to them, they played well after that. ... We know we can be better. We have to be honest enough to admit that."

Meanwhile, police are investigating fans for throwing objects at Accrington Stanley goalkeeper Jon McCracken in the second half. "A football match should be a family-friendly event and this type of incident, where items have been thrown at a player, is utterly unacceptable," authorities said in a statement to the BBC.

Wrexham are next in action next Saturday against Morecambe before a quick turnaround three days later to face Harrogate Town.
