A friend of murder victim Rita Roberts has sensationally claimed she was told about her death 30 years ago.
Miss Roberts, known as “the woman with the flower tattoo”, was identified after 31 years following an international appeal. Her body was found against a grate in a river in Antwerp, Belgium on June 3, 1992, with evidence showing she had been stabbed. No one has been arrested but a friend added more mystery to her demise.
The school friend, who does not want to be named, told The Mirror: “I was confused to see the stories about Rita because I was told she had drowned in a canal in Amsterdam 30 years ago. I got on with my life not thinking anything other than it was a tragedy. I don’t know why this has only come out now.”

Rita, 31, of Cardiff, moved to Antwerp in February 1992. Her last contact with her relatives in Britain was via a postcard sent in May. A family member contacted police after seeing details of her tattoo on her left forearm of a black flower with “R’Nick” underneath.
Her family said: “The news was shocking and heartbreaking.” Anyone with information can get in touch via the Interpol website.
