Gardeners' World star Monty Don shares sneak peek of new BBC series with fans

Horticulturist and TV presenter Monty Don has revealed he is taking up his third gardening show with the BBC, as he will front a new programme in 2024.

The popular TV star will front a new series in addition to Gardeners' World and his current American Gardens series. The new series will see him heading off to warmer climates as he explores gardens and outdoor spaces in Spain and across Europe.

The veteran TV presenter gave fans a quick glimpse of some of the unique landscape gardens as he revealed he's already recording the voiceover and narration script for his new series. He showed a quick sneak peek of some of the spaces he's seen as he shared a picture to Instagram of a beautiful green garden in Avila.

Writing on his Instagram, Monty wrote: "Have spent the day sequestered away writing VO for 'Monty Don's Spanish Gardens' that will be shown on BBC2 in January. This picture of superb garden near Avila designed by Miguel Orquijo."

Fans were quick to praise the presenter as they expressed their excitement for the new series. One wrote: "Fantastic just the program for January to cheer us up". Anther added: "Ooh! Look forward to that!" A third shared: "Fantastic!!! will be looking forward to watching!! Really enjoyed the American Gardens!" "So looking forward to seeing this programme. Just the thing for getting me through January!" said a fourth.

Earlier this month Monty had fans worried they wouldn't see the presenter anymore after he delivered the devastating news that he doesn't think he will stay with Gardener's World long term. Much to the disappointment of his army of fans, he says he'll call it a day before too long. Monty says it is only right that whoever gets his job when the time comes was more representative of the current generation and wants the hit show to have the correct voice.

In an interview with The Guardian, he confirmed he has plans quit the programme but doesn't know exactly when. He said: "I would like to think the next Gardeners’ World presenter ideally would be female, would represent either singly, or in multiplicity, the diversity in this country, that has at least some urban context. The world’s changing; we need to change with it – in many ways, it’s likely I’m the last middle-aged, middle-class white male with a large garden doing Gardeners’ World."
