A rare Porsche dating back thirty years which only has ten miles on its clock is set to sell for more than £2 million.
The rare 1993 911 Type 964 Carrera RSR is one of only two Strassenversion (Street Version) RSRs built by the firm. The car has not been driven for 30 years and even retains its factory-applied Cosmoline protective coating - a thick, oily substance used as a rust inhibitor and protectant. It also gives the model its distinctive dirty look. Bonhams|Cars say the Porsche was built to the original owner's unique specifications, which include extending to the seats, headlining, dashboard, steering column, steering wheel, door caps, roll cage and decking it out in red leather.

The Porsche will be offered at the Bonhams Abu Dhabi sale at the Yas Marina Circuit, taking place on 25 November. It has an estimate between £1.6m and £2m.

The classic car, bought at auction for £5,300 last year, is on display at the British Motor Museum until autumn next year, when it will go under the hammer again. Built in Renfrewshire, and unveiled at the Paris Motor Show in 1969, the high-performance saloon sold for £962.

Cat Boxall, curator at the museum in Gaydon, Warks, said: “We are delighted to have this on display. The Hillman GT is the rarest car from the Rootes Group and it is believed this is the only surviving example.”

The car features in TV show Bangers & Cash: Restoring Classics on November 9. Executive producer Andy Joynson said: “It isn’t flash, it isn’t expensive, it isn’t even an iconic car – but it is part of our motoring history. I hope people enjoy the story of a humble and very British car.”
