The cold weather has truly struck, Halloween is over and festive fans are already reeling out the Christmas lights to decorate their homes for the magical occasion.

With many Brits feeling the pinch this year as the cost of living crisis rumbles on, Christmas lovers are finding creative ways to decorate on a budget - and homestores like B&M, The Range and Poundland are leaving fans wowed with their fun ranges - including The Grinch items.

But sometimes our shopping sprees don't go as planned, as one mortified customer found out when she stumbled across a major fail down the seasonal aisle in B&M last year.

Vickie Green spotted the wholesome ornament in a store, but she was in disbelief when she noticed an amusing spelling fail, which prompted her to snap a quick photograph before posting it on Facebook.

The store's 'Family Block Sign' spelled out the word 'family' but cleverly replaced some of the letters with festive designs. Retailing for just £6 at the time, the cheery Christmas ornament left Vickie in stitches as the missing letters make for a rather crude interpretation.

Captioning the post, she wrote: "Don't think B&M thought this out properly." The decorative ornament, which looks to complement your seasonal interiors, is decorated with a Christmas hat, baubles and Reindeer's nose. These additional decorations replace the A, I, and Y in the phrase 'family', which unfortunately gives readers an eyeful as the ornament unintentionally spells out something much ruder - FML, a well-known acronym for f*** my life.

Flocking to the comment section of the viral post, social media users were in stitches over the inexpensive decoration, which sparked a hilarious reaction online. "I'm definitely getting one ladies, I won't lie - I think it's my most typed phrase in WhatsApp," one person joked. A second teased: "To me, 'Family' and 'FML' are one and the same."

"I was stood in B&M trying to work it out... all I can see is fml," a different user wrote. Someone even shared a snap of the display in their own home, adding: "I'm never looking at my window sill the same again."

The Mirror reached out to B&M for comment.
