When expecting a baby there are few bigger decisions that new parents face than choosing their name. Our names are with us most of the time for our entire lives, so picking something that will stand the test of time and really suit your child as they grow into adulthood can be a challenge, especially as there are so many options out there.

Now, the experts are predicting a surprising source of inspiration for baby names in 2024 - rock and roll, rock and roll. None of us exist in a vacuum, so it's natural that we are influenced by many of the same cultural trends and forces, with names like 'Cobain' predicted to top the list of rock and roll choices, it begs the question if a section of die-hard Nirvana fans are finally settling down.

Other names inspired by rock music legends that are likely to prove popular include the name Nirvana itself - the groundbreaking band that Kurt Cobain fronted up before his untimely death in 1994. Another name of a rock icons that is predicted to see a resurgence is Elvis - which at least provides a little bit of flexibility because their namesake could be claimed as Presley or Costello, depending on your preference.

Expert Pamela Redmond - creator of Nameberry - explained that the move towards names that are more stand-out and inspired by these music icons, is because "today's parents are fixated on sending the right messages with the names they choose. The perfect baby name for 2024 is one that is ahead of the style curve, personally significant, and identity-defining". Many of the rock and roll inspired monikers that are predicted to be popular in 2024 were originally made famous by artists that had their heyday some time ago now, so it gives an opportunity to both give a nod to their legacy whilst also leaving enough space for the child's personality too.

Another Elvis inspired name that is predicted to do well in 2024 is Graceland, which could easily be shortened to Grace to make it a bit more conventional if the setting required it and is a good example of a quirky choice that comes with some adaptability too - helpful in case a child isn't quite as keen on standing out themselves as their parents are.

Other names inspired by rock legends that are foreseen to catapult to the top of the charts - the baby name ones anyway - include Elton, Joni, Ozzy, and Pixie, as well as Joplin, Collins, Zeppelin, Arlo and Maybellene - after the Chuck Berry hit.
