Furious Strictly fans declare Angela Scanlon was 'sabotaged' with dance element

Strictly Come Dancing viewers are fuming after accusing the show of "sabotaging" Angela Scanlon.

The Irish presenter, 39, performed a Samba to J-Lo's Ain't It Funny, but some fans thought the song choice coupled with Angela's outfit was far from fun and put her at risk of the dance-off. Commenting on her red lace frock, which came complete with an eye-catching leather bodice, one fan asked: "Why have wardrobe given Angela Scanlon a Paso Doble frock for a Samba? #Strictly."

Others viewers thought the noughties bop was not right for a Samba as one took to Twitter, formerly X, saying: "Angela screwed over by this music for a Samba. #StrictlyComeDancing #strictly." Another said: "Feel a bit sorry for Angela Scanlon - samba is hard enough without having to do it to completely non-samba music #strictly." While a third compared the presenter to fellow contestant Angela Rippon, lamenting: "Terrible music for Angela Scanlon again, frustrating that one Angela consistently gets great music and is praised by the judges but the other doesn’t #bbcstrictly #StrictlyComeDancing."

Elsewhere, fans slammed the judges for their critique of Angela and pro partner, Carlos Gu, as one asked: "Sorry but what is the judges problem with Angela Scanlon?? Every week they pick her apart and criticise her." Craig Revel Horwood told the pair that he'd "only enjoyed watching from the waist down" as head judge Shirley Ballas said Angela had been wildly "flailing" her arms during the performance. "Your arms are as long as your legs and they need a home!" she told the presenter.

The duo received a six from Craig and sevens from all the other judges and fans fear for their safety in tonight's show. However, last week, Angela showed the competition who's boss by pulling off an incredible performance, stunning fans and leaving the audience spellbound. Her dance partner, Carlos couldn't have been prouder of her as they both channelled the Halloween spirit for their live show.

However, Strictly is not Amanda's first foray into the world of dance. The flame-haired host, who presents the popular interior design show Your Home Made Perfect on BBC Two, has had experience strutting her stuff in sequins before.

Before becoming a popular TV presenter, Angela travelled the world, competing against other teams in dazzling performances, which gave her a wealth of experience. Originally from County Meath in Ireland, she trained with the O'Shea Irish company, which helped her hone her dancing skills. The young dance troop even appeared on Channel 4's The Big Breakfast in the early 2000s, where they performed and were photographed alongside fellow Irish singer and songwriter Ronan Keating.
