Prince Harry predicted his relationship with his wife Meghan Markle before he met her in 2016.

The former actress met in July 2016 after they were introduced through a friend and were set up on a blind date after the pal confirmed that the Prince was "nice". He then took Meghan, who was working as an actress in popular law-based drama Suits at the time, on a trip to Botswana.

In an early interview, Harry said : "The fact that I fell in love with Meghan so incredibly quickly was confirmation to me that all the stars were aligned, everything was just perfect. This beautiful woman just tripped and fell into my life, I fell into her life."

The couple went on to get married in 2018, with their celebrity pals Idris Elba and Victoria Beckham in attendance. In 2020, they made the shocking move to leave their royal duties behind and move out of the UK, eventually settling down in Montecito, California where they live with their two kids, Archie, four and Lilibet, two.

The prince admitted that he'd "never watched" Suits before marrying Meghan, and so was "beautifully surprised when I walked into that room and saw her". However, sources have claimed that Harry had an idea of Meghan's social standing and had previously told friends that he would only marry someone who was sued to spotlight.

The Daily Mail claims Harry told a confidante that "only somebody who was already in the public eye would be able to understand and handle everything that goes with being with [a prince]." Although, he source added: "I don’t think he went out and deliberately looked for a famous actress."

The candid remarks came after his past relationships with ex-girlfriends, Chelsy Davy, 38, and Cressida Bonas, 34, admitted they struggled with the scrutiny of being with the royal. Chelsy said the attention during their seven-year on-off romance was "so full-on: Crazy and scary and uncomfortable."

A source close to Harry told The Sunday Times: "It makes sense that he has ended up with a celebrity… he feels comfortable being with someone who has already come to terms with the price of fame in the way that his other girlfriends never could."
