Strictly Come Dancing has released a statement after Adam Thomas pulled out of Friday's spin-off show, It Takes Two, due to "feeling under the weather" ahead of Saturday's live show.
During the episode, host Fleur East revealed she was meant to be talking to both Adam, 35, and Luba Mushtuk, 33, but that Adam had pulled out of the interview due to feeling "under the weather". Fleur, 35, said: "Unfortunately, Adam's feeling a bit under the weather. But please welcome the lovely Luba!"
To which Luba joked: "It's so strange to be here by myself!" she added: "He [Adam] is resting now, he just hasn't felt very well, but he is resting and getting ready for tomorrow night so everything will be fine!"
Strictly has since released a statement, saying: "We are hopeful Adam will be better and able to perform this weekend. There are contingencies in place should he not be able to. The health and wellbeing of the Strictly cast and crew is production’s absolute priority."
It comes after Adam was reportedly banned from rehearsals last week after falling ill. The Waterloo Road star revealed he had fallen ill last week and posted a photo of himself in bed. Taking to Instagram at the time, he told fans: "Of all weeks to be poorly!", and said he was downing Berocca and coffee in a bid to get well again.
EastEnders' Jake Wood's snap of son has fans pointing out the pair's likenessHowever, despite his illness, Adam managed to perform last weekend, where he and Luba received an impressive 32 points for their Couple's Choice to Backstreet Boys Medley by Backstreet Boys. They are due to perform an American smooth to Magic Moments by American singer Perry Como during Saturday’s Halloween week episode.
It's been a dramatic week for Strictly after Amanda Abbington quit the hit BBC One dance competition after she missed last weekend's episode due to "medical reasons". The news was shared on spin-off show, It Takes Two, on Monday as host Fleur read aloud a statement from a Strictly spokesperson.
The statement said: "Amanda Abbington is unable to continue in Strictly Come Dancing and has decided to withdraw from the competition. The show wishes her all the best for the future." Amanda, 51, has since broken her silence after it was revealed she had quit Strictly, saying "personal reasons" led her to leave the show with "the deepest regret".
