The One Show's Gethin Jones forced to apologise as guest swears live on air

Gethin Jones was forced to apologise on The One Show as a guest swore live on air.

Rick Stein appeared on the BBC show today where he chatted about his new book Simple Suppers. Gethin sat alongside Alex Scott, with the pair chatting with the chef about the new book and its recipes targeted at making for one or two.

As they chatted about the book, Rick admitted that he was a little drunk when he has dinner on his own. He said: "It was indeed. I mean part of the reason for that chapter. A lot of people do like cooking on their own actually. It's a mixture. At the beginning of the chapter, I think a lot of the time I'm having dinner on my own, I'm probably p***ed because I've been out somewhere."

Gethin was quick to step in and apologised: "We'll leave that language for later on, yes. Let's carry on," whilst Rick also extended his apologies to viewers too as he admitted to his error. He said: "Sorry! Apologies for that!"

Later, he discussed his book and mentioned alcohol again, but was careful with his choice of words. He said: "Every time I do it, I sit there and I have maybe just one glass of white win. Thank you Gethin, I'm so sorry about that. It's just I do fill my book with reality."

Back in October, Alex Jones was forced to apologise after Lewis Capaldi swore twice live on air. As he sat on the famous sofa, and asked how he felt about the chart success his song has had, he said: "Yeah, I'm chuffed to b***ery! It was nerve-wracking, but it's good to be back, amongst friends, and it's good to be out of the house!"

Talk then quickly turned to the music video for Forget Me, which was inspired by Wham's 1983 video for Club Tropicana. The original video featured Roman's mum Shirlie Kemp and Lewis loved her in the video. "Your mum was in it and she looked b**** good in it, I have to say that!" as Roman begged him: "Please, please stop!"

The hosts later apologised for Lewis' swearwords before talk changed to another topic.
