Over the last year or so, we've seen a plethora of fruity - and fabulous - make up trends making waves in the weird and wonderful world of TikTok. From strawberries and tomatoes to grape and berry, it's a beauty trend that has dominated this summer's go-to beauty look.
But now that autumn is here and winter is drawing in, there's a fruity new girl in town, with her moodier, deeper and richer tones: Cherry. From a darker take to cola versions, Cherry Girl Make Up has taken the social media world by storm, having had over 40 million views on TikTok and has a more "glam" take on the classic, innocent looking strawberry girl of summer's past and really taps into the (one of the) colour of the season - which is red.
With an abundance of videos online with tutorials and product suggestions for how to perfect this look - which is great for party season (although add some sparkle to make it festive) - we've taken the liberty to list the steps you need to take to get this saucy autumnal look, taking inspiration from TikTokker @immbunny, whose make up tutorial has had over 19,000 views.
Posting herself creating this look, she advised her followers: "It's basically a glammed up look using, obviously, red cherry tones. It has a little bit of a sexiness to it. Prepping the base with a more full coverage matte [foundation]. You want that snatched face look, so I'm going in with the Make Up By Mario contour stick. Can you see how it's giving me this face definition?" After defining her brows with a pencil, she added a YSL cheek balm before using a powder to make her cheekbones pop even more.
"For the eyes, I'm just going to do a neutral eye. So the eyeliner, for this look, you kind of want to do siren eyes, layering the cream eyeliner on the lash line and I'm going to wing it. Then I'm going to take a liquid eyeliner and go into the inner corner."
Kate Middleton swears by £19.99 rosehip oil that helps 'reduce wrinkles & scars'Layering the liquid eyeliner on the end flick too, she moves onto "the star" - lashes - before continuing: "Time for the lips.
"These are called Cherry Coke lips. You basically lip line in brown and go over it in a red [lipstick]." Topping with her Rhode Cherry "to give it that extra juicy shine. And there you have Cherry Girl."
While these products may be out of reach for many of us - due to location or simply price - we've taken a look at some alternatives that'll help you perfect this look.
Laura Mercier's blush is "really pigmented but blends out beautifully" as is this lip and cheek tint from The Beauty Crop. Milk Make Up too "looks beautiful on cheeks".
For the eyes, you can either stick with a neutral base, as @immbunny did, or add some reddy tones - like this Lottie London Cherry Pop palette or Charlotte Tilbury's Walk of No Shame palette - underneath liner such as this from Fenty Beauty. If you're wanting an even bolder look, add a line of Fenty Beauty's Flypencil in Cherry Punk for a pop of colour.
As for the final touch - the lips - whether you want Cherry Cola lips or simply deep Cherry depends on the lip liner you use. For a cola variation, use a browner tone - this Mac one in mahogany is gorgeous, for a fruitier version use red (I'm a big fan of the MUA Razzleberry shade).
Top with your favourite red lip and add a gloss or lip oil for that ultimate shine. And voila - you've cracked Cherry Girl Make Up.
