Shocking footage has captured the moment teenagers yell "it's coming" as a bus was flooded by Storm Babet.

The double-decker was travelling through Chesterfield, Derbyshire, when it was hit by floods caused by last week's storm which saw parts of the area submerged and has even killed several Brits. Children were travelling home from school at the time when murky brown water gushed in from the passenger door.

Passengers feared for their safety as the vehicle was overcome, wading through the water and up the steps to escape the submerged bottom deck. Isabelle Hall, 16, who was on the bus at the time, said the incident left everyone "freaked out". "I knew these floods were going to happen because my town is like a crater," she said. "Lives were at risk! It massively delayed the journey as it was difficult to find an unflooded route.

"I think it freaked everyone out. It was shocking. I was scared for the children on the bottom deck and it made my family nervous too. I'm massively grateful to the drivers at Hulleys of Baslow for getting everyone back safely, as the flooding was really drastic."

Derbyshire was one of several parts of the UK to be hit by severe flooding on Friday after the storm battered the UK. One woman in Chesterfield was tragically found dead after trying to escape her flat.

Housebound Maureen Gilbert was found dead by her son and grandson after they visited her flat worried for her safety when the town was flooded. Water had seeped into the property leaving the 83-year-old trapped, her son Paul said.

Meanwhile the Met Office has issued more yellow warnings for heavy rain in parts of the UK on Tuesday as devastated communities face the prospect of further flooding. Nearly a month's worth of rain is expected in several areas, including South Yorkshire, East Yorkshire, parts of Nottinghamshire and Lincolnshire.
