Lucas Glover missed out on a place on Team USA for September's Ryder Cup against Europe but that has not stopped him having his say on the controversy surrounding the United States players wanting to be paid to play in the event.
It was a week to forget for the Americans at the Marco Simone course in Rome, as they fell to a 16.5-11.5 defeat against Luke Donald's European team. As well as their troubles on the course there were also issues off it too, after rumours of a team 'split' broke out midway through the event.
The reported dispute was said to have centred around Patrick Cantlay, who was allegedly disgruntled at not being paid to represent his nation on the Ryder Cup stage.

Whilst the US setup was quick to play down any sort of fall out within their camp, Cantlay himself refused to shutdown the reports surrounding his anger over the pay row. Many have been quick to criticise the former FedEx Cup winner's stance, and the latest is Glover.

At the age of 43, Glover put himself forward to earn his first ever Ryder Cup call-up having impressed on the PGA Tour throughout 2023. The American appeared to find form at the right time, winning back-to-back events at the Wyndham Championship and the FedEx St. Jude Championship just weeks before Zach Johnson confirmed his team.
Lucas Glover criticised the pay row (Getty Images)Sadly for Glover he was overlooked by captain Johnson when his 12-man team was announced in early September. Nearly two months on, the 43-year-old has opened up on his near-miss, as well as the row regarding American players being paid to play.
"I would have loved to have been there [the Ryder Cup]," Glover told SiriusXM PGA Tour Radio.
"I think I could have brought some different things to the table." Discussing the reported rift, the PGA Tour star went on: "It broke my heart the week after to hear how splintered the [locker] room was.
"And things about money, and all the other different things, that is not at all what the Ryder Cup stands for. Like what going on what I have been read and what I have been told. I have talked to some people that were there and in the fight and it breaks my heart to hear that. That is not what it is about."
