Meghan Markle's close friend and Hollywood producer Tyler Perry has won a financial battle against an investment company who wanted to buy a 93-year-old woman's home.
The billionaire filmmaker was "fighting to save" Josephine Wright's home, which had been in her family since the 1800s. Josephine desperately wanted to keep her South Carolina-located home, which her family have owned since the American Civil War era.
Writer Whitney Alese took to Twitter during the week to bring attention to Josephine's situation, with her explaining that the lady's family has owned land "since the end of enslavement" with the home having "generations of family history". Whitney added that the home has been a "gathering spot for her seven children, 40 grandchildren, 50 great-grandchildren & 16 great-great-grandchildren for over 30 years".

Josephine was fighting for her land (WSAV)Later on in her lengthy Twitter thread, Whitney added: "Bailey Point Investment LLC is constructing 147 housing units that engulf Wright’s property. After refusing to sell the land to the developer, they sued her for 'encroaching on their 29 acres', alleging Wright isn’t the legal heir to the property."

Tyler jumped to Josephine's defence against the Bailey Point Investment Group over her Hilton Head home and has since gifted her a new home in the process. According to her granddaughter, Charise, Tyler got in touch with the family and asked Josephine what she wanted in a new home, and she told him she'd like five bedrooms plus a pool.
"Tyler agreed and his team sent Josephine the blueprints," Charise told TMZ, who also obtained a copy of the blueprints to the new home. "[Josephine] is very particular and asked for a few minor changes and he obliged."

Tyler offered Harry and Meghan a safe haven (Getty Images)Another source told the publication: "Tyler is gifting Josephine a modular home, it will be built off-site and then moved to a separate part of her expansive property, so she won't have to leave the plot of land that's been passed down by her family for generations."
It isn't the first time the filmmaker has helped out those in need. Meghan and Prince Harry spent much of 2020 residing in a $15 million mega-mansion owned by Tyler after he offered them a place to stay following their departure from the UK. He is now godfather to their daughter Princess Lilibet.
