The Strictly Come Dancing 2023 contestants are back for another week of high kicks, daring lifts, and jaw-dropping footwork as the competition heats up in week five of the live shows.

The array of celebrity contestants are showing off a wide range of dance skills - while shaking their stuff to a broad range of music numbers. Adam Thomas and Luba Mushtuk were given free rein on the dance floor as they showcased their couple’s choice - dancing to a medley of songs by the Backstreet Boys. Angela Scanlon and Carlos Gu are given the task of showing their American Smooth skills, while Angela Rippon and Kai Widdrington strut their Argentine tango.

Annabel Croft and Johannes Radebe lined up the song Ladies' Night by Kool & the Gang to perform their week five dance - while Bobby Brazier and Dianne Buswell picked the song Golden Hour by JVKE for their own performance. Eddie Kadi and Karen Hauer were granted the chance to show off their Samba, Ellie Leach and Vito Coppola were prepared to dance the Paso doble, Krishnan Guru-Murthy and Lauren Oakley were ready to show off their Quickstep, and Layton Williams and Nikita Kuzmin showed off their Salsa.

Nigel Harman and Katya Jones lined up the iconic Etta James song I Just Want to Make Love to You for their performance, and Zara McDermott and Graziano Di Prima were primed to dance to Can't Fight the Moonlight by LeAnn Rimes.

Strictly fans will notice that Amanda Abbington and Giovanni Pernice are absent during the week five performances - with the pair being forced to sit out the contest after Amanda fell ill. The duo hope to return to the contest in time for week six and were granted a bye from the judges during week five to allow them to remain in the contest.

Head judge Shirley Ballas was in position on the panel to review all the dance moves and to criticise any mishaps - alongside fellow judges Craig Revel Horwood, Motsi Mabuse and Anton Du Beke. The four judges were ready to administer scores from one to ten to the celebrities and their professional dancer partners - while the public were on poise to award their own scores with the public vote.

Ellie Leach and Vito Coppola - 37

Ellie Leach and Vito Coppola scored 37 points from the judges - Craig scored 9, Motsi gave 10, Shirley awarded 9 and Anton also scored 9. Ellie and Vito danced the Paso doble to the Faithless song Insomnia.

Angela Rippon and Kai Widdrington - 34

Angela Rippon and Kai Widdrington scored 34 points - Craig scored the duo 8, Motsi gave 9, Shirley awarded 8 and Anton scored them 9. Angela and Kai danced a Argentine tango to the sound of Tanguera by Sexteto Mayor.

Amanda Abbington and Giovanni Pernice - Bye

Amanda Abbington and Giovanni Pernice did not take part in Strictly Come Dancing's week five show. The pair were forced to sit out the latest live show due to medical grounds and were granted a bye to go through to week six. A statement from Strictly revealed: "Due to medical reasons Amanda Abbington will not be taking part in Strictly Come Dancing this weekend. Strictly Come Dancing protocols mean that all being well, Amanda and Giovanni will return the following week."
