Premier League health check after internationals as Arsenal and Liverpool hit

The international break is nearly over and the Premier League resumes this weekend, with the Merseyside Derby and Chelsea vs Arsenal among the fixtures.

All 20 clubs are in action on Saturday, Sunday and Monday and will be looking to regain some momentum following a two-week break, which has seen England and Scotland among the sides to qualify for Euro 2024. Other Premier League players will be returning from further afield, with seven in the starting line-ups for Brazil and Uruguay in their match in Montevideo on Wednesday.

The Premier League action begins with Liverpool vs Everton at Anfield in Jurgen Klopp ’s least favourite kick-off time of 12.30 on Saturday. Manchester City will try to bounce back from their successive defeats against Brighton and Newcastle host Crystal Palace before Chelsea and Arsenal and Sheffield United and Manchester United take centre stage in the late kick-offs.

As ever, there will be plenty of players not taking part this weekend. According to Premier Injuries, Chelsea lead the way with 14 players out injured, while Manchester United are also limited by nine absentees. Liverpool are sweating on the fitness of Andy Robertson while Arsenal are awaiting a prognosis on Bukayo Saka. Here Mirror Football gives a rundown of every team’s injury list.
