UFC star Conor McGregor will not face criminal charges having been accused of sexual assault during an NBA Finals game in June.
McGregor was at the Finals game between the Miami Heat and Denver Nuggets in Miami and was alleged to have assaulted a woman in an arena bathroom. At the time of the accusation McGregor denied any wrongdoing has now been cleared four months on. A report from TMZ revealed prosecutors cited "insufficient evidence" whilst also having "contradicting and/or no corroborating witnesses."
In a statement, McGregor's lawyer said: "After a thorough investigation, including a review of videos and interviews with eyewitnesses, the authorities have concluded that there is no case to pursue against my client, Conor McGregor. As anticipated, this decision by the authorities confirms Mr. McGregor’s account of the evening. On behalf of my client, his family and his fans we are pleased this is now over."
According to a closeout document from the case, McGregor was alleged to have entered the men's bathroom with a woman at the Kaseya Center. It was later revealed the pair were again spotted together at a club in the early hours the following morning. The prosecutors confirmed a bathroom attendant who was in the same restroom at the same time as McGregor and the accuser was interviewed as part of the investigation. The witness claimed that he, "did not hear any signs of distress or sounds that would corroborate that whatever was occurring was not consensual."
It was also noted McGregor's friend claimed the accuser failed to mention any sort of attack, and had called her mother that same night to tell her that she had met the former UFC world champion. Announcing McGregor would face no action, the Florida court memo read: "In light of the above facts and circumstances the State would not be able to satisfy its burden of proof beyond a reasonable doubt."

Per the report, the alleged victim had initially reported the incident to the police, asking detectives whether McGregor, "would like to 'settle' or 'pay her off' if she did not pursue charges." McGregor has not fought in the UFC since July 2021 when he broke his leg in the first round of his trilogy fight with Dustin Poirier.
