After a week of festive indulgence, we nervously haul our over-stuffed frame onto the bathroom scales and ... uh-oh ... seems like we've piled on a few pounds.

Well, who would have thought it?

It is Christmas, though!

A time of excess. And if you can't spoil yourself at this time of year, when can you?

But once the mirth and merriment has faded away - and we face the prospect of a traditionally cold and uninspiring January - our attentions inevitably shift to getting back into shape.

But how, exactly, are we going to get some much-needed exercise into our lives? Shall we start running? Cycling? Rowing? Maybe a spot of yoga or t'ai chi?
