Newcastle have recalled goalkeeper Martin Dubravka from his season-long loan at Old Trafford.

The Slovakian shot-stopper joined United in the final days of the summer transfer window but failed to make a single league appearance during his short stint in Manchester.

Dubravka did play twice for United in the Carabao Cup and was thanked for his services by the club in a statement which read: "We would like to thank Martin for his contribution during his time with our club, and wish him all the best for the future."

Dubravka's absence could mean more game-time for veteran Tom Heaton, who returned to the club in the summer on a free transfer.

French giants Marseille are ready to make a move for United prospect Hannibal Mejbri as the Tunisian teenager continues to impress away from Old Trafford.

Hannibal, 19, has earned rave reviews in the Championship this year after joining Birmingham City on a season-long loan deal back in the summer. However, his performances have now attracted the attention of Marseille, who The Sun claim are now gearing up to launch a permanent swoop for the highly-rated midfield maestro.

United have been keeping a keen eye on Hannibal's progress themselves but Marseille are poised to step up their own interest after sending one of their top talent scouts to make a personal check on the youngster last week.
