Meghan and Harry say they were in a "car chase", similar to Princess Diana

In May 2023, Prince Harry and Meghan Markle claimed to be in a terrifying car chase as they rode in a New York City yellow cab.

The "near catastrophic car chase", as it was described by the pair, was allegedly a "relentless pursuit" by the paparazzi that went on for over two hours by about six blacked-out vehicles. As a result, their driver had multiple near collisions with pedestrians and other vehicles. The identities of the individuals involved are still unknown at this time and the couple are left frazzled and scared.

This sort of incident feels all too familiar for the public and, especially, Prince Harry. After all, his own mother died in quite a similar way.

Much of Princess Diana's death has been shrouded in mystery, secrets, and conspiracy, but it's well-known that she died as the result of injuries from a car crash. At the time, the BBC reported that the crashed occurred after the driver was forced into dodge paparazzi in heavy pursuit of the vehicle. Their concerning driving is believed to be what caused Diana's driver to lose control of the vehicle.

A verdict of unlawful killing was eventually reached by a jury about nine years after Diana's death. They implicated both the paparazzi vehicles and the driver himself who allegedly was under the influence of alcohol and prescription drugs. The eerie similarities between Prince Harry and Prince Diana's pursuits is chilling. After all, neither Diana nor Harry were alone in this situation; both were in the vehicle with their partners.

However, the dark nature of the event only turns darker. Both Diana and Harry had separated from the Royal Family prior to their respective car pursuits. Diana officially settled her divorce from King Charles, who was only a prince at the time, in August 1996, a year prior to the accident. With the pair's separation came a slew of bad publicity and negative attention to the royal family. Harry and Meghan stepped away from the Royal Family in January 2020, relinquishing their titles and moving away from their official duties. They then had a sit down interview with Oprah and have been vocal about "mistreatment" by the Royal Family. Much like Diana, Harry's departure caused quite the media stir.
