Susanna Reid and Ed Balls slam 'work shy' GMB guest as they miss live interview

Susanna Reid and Ed Balls slammed journalist Andrew Pierce on Monday's Good Morning Britain when he failed to show up for a scheduled live interview.

Andrew regularly appears on the ITV show alongside Mirror's Kevin Maguire and the pair attended the Tory Party Conference together in Manchester. But, as Susanna and Ed joined Kevin Monday morning, they noticed Kevin was holding a photo of Andrew who was missing from the seat next to him.

Ed began: "We're now joined by the Mirror's Kevin Maguire up in Manchester at the Tory Party Conference. We're supposed to be joined by Andrew Pierce, I don't want to talk about the work shy, in their rooms with the curtains drawn while others are going to work."

"We're going to have to slash his benefits," joked Susanna as Kevin quipped: "I think he's put the party in party conference and he's probably nursing a hangover some where. He'll claim his alarm didn't work, but you don't need VAR to see he's not here, he's not off-side, he's not even on the pitch, he's just not turned up."

"You're quite right, it's work shy Britain," Kevin continued. "There he is, he's a southerner, very right-wing, pro-Conservative, he'll be cheering Jeremy Hunt, the chancellor, later on cracking down on people claiming benefits who don't go to job interviews – he hasn't gone to his own job. I mean it's appalling."

Good Morning Britain viewers were quick to comment on the broadcaster's absence as one wrote on X, formally known as Twitter: "It was good not to have Andrew Pierce constantly talking over Kevin Maguire but his opinion in ‘debate’ was missed. Where are you Tory Boy?"

Another remarked: "@GMB haha I remember Andrew missing interviews last conference blaming alarms and he was late the other week ,buy him new alarms," a third agreed: "#GMB Didn’t Andrew miss his spot at beginning of last Tory conference- I seem to recall Kevin jokingly saying same thing that he was partying to much." Someone else joked: "So much better without Andrew Pierce, may he have another hangover tomorrow."
