Prince Harry can help Meghan Markle win Senator's seat with his 'vast knowledge'

Meghan Markle has been linked with a vacant Senator's seat following the death last week of 90-year-old Dianne Feinstein.

Celebrity PR expert Jane Owen said: "It’s actually not a terrible idea for her to turn to politics. According to a major Democratic donor close to Californian Governor Gavin Newsom, who is set to choose Feinstein's replacement, the possibility of the Duchess of Sussex taking up the seat is not impossible, albeit a long shot.

And that opinion is mirrored by a PR expert, who even believes her husband Prince Harry could be key in her succeeding in the race for the seat if she were to enter.

Celebrity PR expert Jane Owen admits: "It’s actually not a terrible idea for her to turn to politics." She added: "We live in a world where the size of your platform can often be the difference between winning or loosing in politics, she has an enormous platform of supporters that could potentially vote for her."

And Jane opened up on the potential opportunities Meghan could have to lean on her husband if she forayed into politics. "As the wife of a Prince and a formerly working member of the royal family she can claim a certain amount of knowledge of public service, even though brief. Harry has a lot of knowledge he could pass on to her about how to speak and behave as a public servant."

Opening up further on why Meghan could turn out to be the ideal candidate, Jane continued: "Meghan is also African American and a Woman, so she can speak in part from a position of two minorities. Since Ronald Regan we have seen celebrities transition from celebrity to politics successfully, just ask Arnold Schwarzenegger.

"She will have to get a great political campaign manager and do some serious work both to her reputation and public persona to be taken seriously. However given the right message and direction I can imagine she might be quite successful. I believe it could be more healthy for her marriage than acting because it’s a world Harry knows better and could be a useful guide to her."

If Meghan did decide to run, she could face competition from good pal Oprah Winfrey though, whose name was thrown into the hat over the weekend. The TV giant however had previously rejected any claims of a run in politics, so it remains to be seen whether she has had a change of heart.
