Astrology 'girlies' will be fully aware that we’ve only just come out of a rather difficult Mercury retrograde that ended on September 15. While we’re currently in what’s known as the “retro shade”, there’s also another cosmic influence that could be affecting how you’re feeling - in particular Cancerians and Aries.

Tonight (September 29) will see the Harvest Moon rise, the final ‘supermoon’ of 2023, bringing with it powerful vibrations that could be causing disturbances in your life without you even being aware of them.

To explain more about why people born under the signs of Cancer and Aries should be keeping track of their mental and physical states, astrologer to the stars Inbaal Honigman spoke exclusively to the Mirror.

She revealed: “Whereas medical science has been back and forth on whether the moon and women's cycles are linked, astrology has been firm in its understanding of the connection. Some scientific studies concur, and some totally refute the link, but in astrology, we see things quite plainly.

“The moon has a clear connection with the earth's water. The tides are caused by the Moon's gravitational pull on the Earth, so when we see the tides rise and fall, we can observe the moon having an impact on bodies of water right here on Earth.

"We can deduce that the moon has an effect on our bodies too, since the human body is about 70% water. The menstrual cycle is a human process that's primarily liquid-based, so there's a connection there. Furthermore, a lunar cycle is about one month in length, and a menstrual cycle is about one month in length. So the connection between the moon and the female reproductive system is assumed for this reason also.”

Indeed, the ancient Greek goddess of the moon, Artemis, was also associated with times during times of transition, such as menstruation and development. A connection made more than 2,000 years ago.

Explaining more about the super full moon, Inbaal revealed: “Today's moon is the fourth and final supermoon of the year. The reason that the moon appears so large, is that it is nearer to the Earth, and so its influence will be felt much stronger by people on earth.

“The time of the full moon is also seen as a very emotional time for many. The word 'Lunacy' which means madness, comes from the same word as the moon, 'Lunar'. At the time of the full moon, it is traditionally believed that people are more emotional, more sensitive, more intuitive, and quicker to get upset.

“The last super full moon of the year happens to be in Aries, known to be a physical, passionate sign, and associated with fitness, bluntness, and blood. Many women have been reporting heavier periods * during the super full moon, and it is not surprising for astrologers to hear that. If you’re an Aries you might be feeling like everyone is looking at you at the moment. They are quite a strong and resilient sign, so they don't mind it too much, but they'll be able to sense it.

“In addition to the ram, the sign of Cancer is ruled by the moon in astrology, so anything that happens with the moon, tends to impact Cancer quite directly. Cancerians will be more sensitive, more psychic, and more tearful than usual.”

*If you are experiencing heavier periods than what is normal for you and are concerned, please speak to your doctor.
