Premier League supercomputer picks winner and top four as Man Utd tipped to flop

The Premier League supercomputer has already been calculating its final table for the 2023/24 season - and it makes grim reading for Manchester United fans.

Football analysts at BetVictor have already deployed the predictive powers of the supercomputer to project results, taking into account current form and league standings. And despite most sides having only played six games, now fans can see where their side is most likely to finish come May.

Few will be surprised over who is considered the champions elect. Having won their opening six league games, Man City have been given an 82.5 per cent chance of winning a fourth straight title, and a 99.5 per cent chance of qualifying for the Champions League.

And a predicted points total of 89 leaves them 14 clear of Newcastle, whose 8-0 hammering of Sheffield United leapfrogs them two places into second. And the massive win for Eddie Howe's men has given them a 78 per cent chance of dining at Europe's top table again next season.

Arsenal will apparently match the points tally of the Magpies (75), but will end up third due to an inferior goal difference. And just one point - and one place - further back are Liverpool whose fans may raise eyebrows at being given only a 4.6 per cent chance of winning the title, having started with 16 points from 18.

But it's depressing reading for United supporters, whose erratic start to the season has clearly been accounted for by the supercomputer. Erik ten Hag's men are expected to be down in eighth on 61 points, with their title winning chances at a cool 0.0 per cent, and Champions League hopes only marginally better at 7 per cent.

Elsewhere, another defeat for Chelsea against Aston Villa at Stamford Bridge sees them slide to 13th in the final-day table. Their relegation chances are also marginally up to 2.6 per cent.

There's better news though for Sean Dyche’s Everton after their first win of the season. They are now tipped to finish outside the relegation zone in 15th, and now only have a 23.8 per cent chance of relegation.

Luton Town's first ever Premier League point leaves them on course to finish 19th. Still though, the Hatters are said to have a 61.5 per cent chance of going straight back to the Championship.

And Sheffield United fans will hope the supercomputer doesn't live up to its name. Otherwise, they face finishing rock bottom with 23 points, a goal difference of -51, and a 93.9 per cent likelihood of the drop.
