Windrush - millions of stories, tell us yours

We all know the story of Windrush, but 75 years on we want to hear stories directly from the people who moved, lived and worked to help rebuild Britain all those years ago. How did they make a life for themselves here, what did they leave behind and how did they help shape the country we know today?

Empire Windrush arrived at Tilbury Docks from the Caribbean on 22 June 1948. The new arrivals worked in jobs from manufacturing and construction, to public transport, and many found employment in the NHS as nurses.

Amid the struggles and hostility, were also fond memories - the culture, food and music we know and love is a result of the arrival of the Windrush generation and their adjustment to British life.

Now, 75 years on, we want to mark this major national moment by coming together, celebrating the history and, most importantly, sharing Windrush generation memories.

We want to hear from those with first hand experiences as well as second and third generations who want to proudly share the memories of parents, grandparents, aunties and uncles up and down the country.
