Abbey Clancy and Peter Crouch were left mortified after their daughter overheard their X-rated sex joke – and knew what it meant.
The former England footballer and his model wife shared the story on their podcast The Therapy Crouch. Explaining what happened, Pete, 42, said: “We went to the park, we had a lovely day. It was nice and sunny, we had a great walk. Ice cream van. Obviously, I’ve got the dog so I’m away from the ice cream van because he’ll probably nick a kid’s ice cream or something.
“So I’m keeping Jeffery [the dog] away and I shouted over, ‘I’ll have a 99’. And Ab said quite quietly away from the queue, ‘Sure you don’t want a 69?” Bursting into giggles as wife Abbey went ‘wink, wink’, Peter continued: “Obviously great gag between us, loved it, all good. Sophia [their daughter] turns around, 12, and says, ‘That’s disgusting’.”
Dad Pete was in disbelief as he said: “Pardon? You’re a child. That’s a gag between me and your mother. I couldn’t believe it” as someone else in the studio was heard saying: “I’d die of embarrassment.”
Abbey, 37, then cut in and said Sophia told her: “I know what that is mum. You are vile.” When quick-thinking Abbey said she was “just talking about a different style of ice cream” and joked it was a cone with two flakes instead of one, Pete joked: “It’s one at the top and one at the bottom” as the studio erupted into laughter again.
Abbey Clancy 'launches TV career on ITV' after podcast success with Peter CrouchAs well as eldest daughter Sophie, 12, Abbey and Peter share daughter Liberty, seven, and sons Johnny, four, and three-year-old Jack. The couple have been together since 2006 before tying the knot in a lavish ceremony in 2011.
They recently renewed their wedding vows in the Maldives with their four kids walking mum Abbey – who still fits in her original Giles Deacon wedding dress - down the aisle as they marked the occasion 11 years on from their first nuptials.
Abbey told Hello Magazine: "We started as a young couple together, and now here we are with our four kids walking us down the aisle. I feel like the luckiest person on earth." She revealed: "Pete’s quite romantic at heart; he has definitely earned himself brownie points for the next few years."
Pete added: "To share this beautiful occasion with the family we created after all these years was really special. They loved it. Abbey looked incredible. Even after 11 years, I still got butterflies when she walked down the aisle. It was a stunning island, but Ab stole the show – I’m a lucky man.”
