Comedian, actor and writer Daniel Sloss is known to millions of fans around the world thanks to his incredibly successful Netflix live shows.

The 33-year-old Scot won an army of new fans across the world when his critically acclaimed stand-up shows hit the streaming giant and he's continuing to win new devotees with his no-nonsense comedy style. His career started, aged just 16, when his mum put him in contact with legendary comic, Frankie Boyle.

Sloss was coached by Boyle and even credits him with his early success after the older comedian offered him coaching and even the chance to write some of jokes for the hit panel show, Mock The Week. He was just 17 when he performed his first run of shows at the Edinburgh Fringe Festival and by 2011 he had a sell-out run on his hands.

Success on the other side of the Atlantic has also followed, with appearances on chat shows as well as his Netflix live stand-up. And it's in one of these shows that Daniel offers up an incredible piece of advice, which he believes has helped thousands of people. In his show, Jigsaw, Sloss takes a long look at relationships and why people remain in unhappy ones.

He explains: "If you are not with someone, you are broken. If you are not with someone, you are incomplete. If you are not with someone, you are not whole. As a result, we are made to feel as though we need a partner to feel complete - meaning many settle and end up with the wrong person. We’ll force this f***ing person into our lives because we’d much rather have something than nothing," he explains.

It seems the advice from his 2018 show struck a chord with people all over the world, who bombarded Sloss with messages to thank him for changing their lives. One wrote: "Hi Daniel! I am 23 years old (sic) and I wanted to say you can add a divorce from a 3 year emotional abusive marriage to your list. I just finished watching your show, and I was having doubts about whether or not I had made the right decision. However, the questions and situations you brought up confirmed that it's ok to say that I deserve better."

Another said: "Guess you can add another to your list. Watched jigsaw and just wanted to say thank you. Certainly not the message I expected from a comedy special but the analogy has been stuck in my head ever since and you were right."

At the time Daniel said: "The joke is 20 minutes long and was never intended to break couples up. It’s just a joyous effect of it. It’s a love letter to single people, pointing out that most of the time being single is better than being in a relationship. Turns out it resonates with people so much they’re dumping their s*** partners. Before Netflix, the tally was 500. It’s now more than 2,500 – and those are only the confirmed numbers, people who have messaged me. I wouldn’t be shocked if it was four times higher.”
