Starfield only fully launched about a week ago but Bethesda has already pledged to support the game in the long term.

Starfield finally launched last week and just a week later we were treated to the first Starfield update, which added some performance and stability upgrades, fixed crashes as well as some quest bugs. Thankfully Bethesda isn't done just yet as the company posted a blog post alongside the patch notes. The post said: "This is a game we’ll be supporting for years and years to come, so please keep all the feedback coming", before singling out specific features the team is keen to add like actual maps for the cities.

"Our priority initially is making sure any top blocker bugs or stability issues are addressed, and adding quality-of-life features that many are asking for" it continued, with a number of quality-of-life features being specifically mentioned, with the full list as follows:

Some of these, like DLSS support, arguably should've been in the game at launch, but at least the team is working on putting it in. Plus the Eat button will be extremely helpful considering how much menu-based faff Starfield already has!

Modds on

The post later went into official mod support, saying "Additionally, we are working on our built-in mod support (Creations) that will work across all platforms similar to what we’ve done with Skyrim and Fallout 4." before announcing that this support is intended to launch in early 2024.

Starfield is a game filled with a lot of strange minor problems, so it's good to see Bethesda is keeping at it to make it the best game it can be. That being said a lot of the stuff (especially on the PC end) really should've been in there to begin with. While no other Bethesda title has been released in the DLSS Era, elements like FOV sliders have been in these games for ages now. Discussions about the PC version being underbaked have been going on since the game launched, and these elements being something you have to wait on are only proof of that.
