My Mum, Your Dad fans have all shared the same complaint after the first episode.

While host Davina McCall is keen to move away from the suggestion that the heartwarming show is 'middle-aged Love Island', fans reckon that its cast aren't 'ordinary' enough and are 'too good-looking'.

There is a slight twist away from the famous ITV2 dating show in that the contestants' childrens give them a helping hand in finding romance. However, comparisons were still made as one fan said there were no "normal looking folks" and that it "seems a bit manufactured".

They wrote: "Where’s the normal looking folks? All super glam milfs and model dads no beer guts, bingo wings, tracky bottoms, sliders etc. all seems a bit manufactured and set up like love island. Really hope I’m wrong and they’re decent people #MyMumYourDad."

While a second said: "Good job I didn’t apply for this…I would’ve been a bit out of place turning up in my jeans and hoody #MyMumYourDad."

"They’re all a bit shiny and glossy. I wanted to see people like me. And no need for the kids to be watching that’s a bit odd #MyMumYourDad," another added.

Davina McCall as hosts the brand new series and is said to have pitched the idea to TV executives herself. Nine single parents have been nominated by their grown-up kids to confront their fears and find love, while their offspring secretly pull the strings.

"There’s no prize money. The prize is love," explained host Davina. She added: "It often happens in your 40s and 50s, where you’ve got children, life is complicated. But more than ever you’re at a point where you deserve to find love. Everybody deserves love but it’s hard to find."

The show was filmed in what is known as The Retreat; an £8 million country house in Midhurst, Sussex, with a large driveway, tennis court, indoor and outdoor swimming pools, steam room, sauna, gym, spa, and hot tub. Locals gave it a cheeky nickname – Viagra House.

However, different to Love Island, there are cameras everywhere but not in the bedrooms. The idea is to watch "the hint" of something coming, shared Davina, not seeing the stars "jumping into bed with each other".
