A mother was horrified to discover a stranger sleeping in her bed through her home's CCTV footage.

Caitlin Sullivan, 22, was away at a friend's house when she received an alert from the security camera installed in her bedroom. Upon reviewing the footage, she was shocked to find an unidentified man climbing into the bed she shares with her baby.

The intruder, who reportedly left the house covered in blood, sent her a strange message on Facebook the next day. He thanked her for letting him sleep and offered an apology. The unsettling event happened on August 31, at 7:45 am and Caitlin immediately alerted the police who raced to the scene. The mystery sleeper was removed from the premises in Sauchie, Clackmannanshire, but according to Caitlin, he was not arrested.

Caitlin, who is a carer, expressed her fear and disbelief, saying: "I couldn't believe my eyes. I was so shocked, I didn't know who he was." She added, "I couldn't believe there was a man in my bed. I don't understand how he got into my house. I haven't been staying in the house since. I never want to go back to that house."

She further shared her concern about the safety of her child, stating, "It's the fact that both me and my little boy sleep in that bed. If I was there he would probably have climbed into my bed and slept next to me." A day after the incident, Caitlin received an odd Facebook message from the intruder, apologising for his actions. The message read: "To give you my sincere apologies, I don't keep well."

It read: "Thank you for letting me put my head down for three hours, hope no harm was done." The anonymous man ended his eerie note with a cryptic "hope to meet you one day".

Caitlin is now living in fear as the intruder knew her name. She said: "I phoned the police and they just told me to block him. Who is to say he won't come back. He has not been punished for it so he might do it again."

Caitlin said she's too afraid to stay in her own house with neighbours reporting that the same man was seen trying to enter her house around 10pm the previous night. He was screaming and shouting at the time.

A spokesperson from Police Scotland said: "Around 9am on Tuesday, 29 August, 2023, officers were called to a report of someone within a house on Rosebank, Sauchie. Officers attended and after being able to gain entry to the property spoke to the person within."

The spokesperson added officers gave have advised Caitlin accordingly and have not received any further complaints or reports.
