EastEnders actress Nina Wadia renewed her vows in an idyllic ceremony with her nearest and dearest close by, her daughter Tia and son Aidan. The four came together on the Croatian island of Losinj for the couple's low-key, yet extremely special, day.
The iconic Zainab Masood star, who played the infamous character for six years between 2007 and 2013, said 'I do' all over again with husband Raiomond Mirza after 25 years of marriage. The pair initially tied the knot back in 1998 in Canada.
Nina's 90s wedding was attended by friends and family, but this time she wanted a more intimate affair. Only her, Raiomond, and their kids, aged 19 and 16, were in attendance, something thought to be sparked after a conversation Nina had with Tia.
"When she was younger, Tia said the funniest thing which prompted all of this," Nina told Hello! Magazine after the ceremony. "When she was looking at our wedding photos, she said to me 'mum, how come I didn’t get to come to the wedding day? I wanted to be there'."
She said the renewal was all about 'celebrating' their children following a 'really big year'. "It has been a really big year for us in a lot of ways, so we thought 'let’s do something special'. "Tia was very excited when we decided to renew our vows – my son, not so much. He’s a 16-year-old boy so he’s not got a romantic bone in his body! But he came around when we told him where we were going. We had a huge wedding first time around. This time, we wanted just the four of us."
EastEnders' Jake Wood's snap of son has fans pointing out the pair's likenessAccording to the magazine, the family spent the morning getting ready – Aidan with his father and Tia with her mother, who wore an embellished Karen Millen dress with kimono-style sleeves, accessorised with earrings from Pinar Ozevlat.
Nina said she 'wanted to do things differently this time' by incorporating 'more of my British side than my Indian side – it felt right'. After the stunning ceremony, Wadia said she Raiomond watched the sun set over the Adriatic Sea. The family indulged in a Michelin-starred dinner, paired with local Croatian wines, at the Restaurant Alfred Keller in the neighbouring Boutique Hotel Alhambra, per Hello! "Raiomond and I talked and drank wine into the night – it was just lovely," Nina explained.
