A glamorous equestrian has been arrested for allegedly trying to hire a hitman to kill her estranged millionaire husband after a court cut her monthly allowance from $50,000 (£40,000) to $12,000 (£9,500).

Tatyana Remley, 42, faced accusations of attempting to have her husband, Mark Remley, killed. Tatyana was apprehended by the San Diego County Sheriff's Department during a sting operation at a Solano Beach Starbucks on August 2.

She stands accused of offering a mutual friend a staggering $2million to end her husband's life. However, the friend chose to notify Mark about this sinister plan.

The Remley couple, former owners of the failed acrobatic show Valitar, had filed for divorce multiple times and accused each other of abuse, reports indicate.

Mark claims that Tatyana set their $5million Rancho Reposo residence in Del Mar ablaze just days after her alleged murder-for-hire solicitation. Fire officials confirmed that the home's interior was consumed by the flames, and the cause of the fire remains under investigation.

Financial difficulties began to plague Tatyana, as outlined by her attorney, Tiffany Brown, in a July divorce filing.

Tiffany Brown wrote: "Wife is experiencing extreme financial strain. She is unable to maintain her realistic monthly expenses of just $12,000, much less than what she was accustomed to at $50,000."

Tatyana also claimed that Mark owned over $1million worth of luxury vehicles, including two Rolls Royce cars, and had more than $8 million in assets he could sell to support her.

In her filings, she made allegations of abuse, including an incident where she was held at gunpoint and another where she was allegedly pursued around their home with a knife. Mark refuted these allegations, asserting that they were false.

Struggling to cope with her newfound frugal lifestyle, Tatyana allegedly sought the help of a mutual friend to murder him, who, upon discovering her plan, reported it to Mark who then told the police. Consequently, Tatyana was arrested during the sting operation.

While police have not disclosed the precise details of how Tatyana orchestrated her husband's murder, she now faces charges of solicitation of murder, along with two weapons charges: carrying and concealing unregistered firearms in a vehicle, and carrying a loaded, unregistered firearm in a public place.

The solicitation charge carries a potential prison sentence of up to nine years, with an additional year for the firearms felony. Tatyana pleaded not guilty to all charges on August 4, and her request for bail was denied.
