No Patrick, there isn't a Squidward Fortnite skin

Fortnite is full of bizarre crossovers, but one TikToker has the internet fooled with an apparently 'exclusive' Squidward skin.

Fortnite is on track to crossover with every franchise known to man at the rate it's going, with recent crossovers including Fortnite x WWE, Fortnite x Jujutsu Kaisen, and Fortnite x Futurama. There's even a Lego crossover allegedly in the works for later this year. One realm Fortnite hasn't really crossed over into yet is kids tv (yes, you could technically count Marvel and Star Wars due to cartoons based on them, but you know what we mean).

But one user on TikTok actually fooled a number of players into believing a SpongeBob SquarePants collab featuring a Fortnite Squidward Tentacles skin was on the way. TikToker wateryshoe posted a video showing off a Squidward skin that they claim to be the only person in the world with, using it to advertise their livestreams.

One look at the supposed Squidward Fortnite skin (and the 'exclusive' Minecraft Steve skin they also showed off) is enough to tell you that this isn't the real deal. I couldn't tell you for sure where it's from, but it seems to be a Squidward model ripped from another title and modded into Fortnite. While I doubt the TikToker was trying to deceive players – and instead just wanting to show off a funny modded skin – they don't specify anywhere that this is, in fact, a mod, so the Squidward Fortnite skin took on a life of its own.

Anyone who runs into wateryshoe in-game will not see Squidward running at them with a shotgun, and instead just see whatever official Fortnite skin the player has placed the Squidward mod over. So unfortunately, you're unlikely to see Squidward cranking 90s any time soon – at least in an official capacity.

Are you feeling it now, Mr Krabs?

As funny as it would be – and despite Fortnite being one of the most kid-friendly games on the market – I highly doubt Nickelodeon would be comfortable with characters from its flagship franchise running around with realistic looking weapons. That being said, when it comes to Fortnite, I've learned to never say never.

But for those wanting to get a SpongeBob fix in an Epic Games title, Fall Guys added skins for SpongeBob characters during last year's Season 3 update. Or if you really want to see a Squidward Fortnite skin, or SpongeBob in collab, one of the best Fortnite memes of all time features a bunch of SpongeBob mods.
