GMB's Richard Madeley forced to correct himself as he nearly swears live on air

Richard Madeley was forced to correct himself on Good Morning Britain today after nearly swearing.

The presenter was sat alongside Kate Garraway on the ITV breakfast show today, where talk soon turned to the travel chaos affecting the UK after the issues with air traffic control yesterday. Many people have found themselves stranded in other countries, or unable to get out of their nearby airport to start their break away on August Bank Holiday.

During a chat about the airport chaos, Richard and Kate spoke with sprinter Iwan Thomas, who has found himself stranded in Amsterdam amid the travel mayhem. As he chatted with the pair on video link, Richard and Kate listened to his ordeal so far. "It could be worse, I managed to find a hotel," he shared, as he looked on the positive side.

Richard then replied: "It’s a good job you kept your passport on you, and it’s a good job you’ve got a couple of credit cards on you. Otherwise you really would be stuck, you would just basically be sitting on your a*se," before cutting himself midway through the word and making a correction as he added: "Excuse me, sitting on your bottom, at the airport on the floor, which so many people are."

Richard had previously spoken out following backlash over his 'controversial' comments he makes on the ITV show. He said that "any day" he's on the show, there is always some sort of "storm" kicking off over what he's said or done.

"Virtually any day that I do Good Morning Britain, you can go on Twitter an hour later and there will be some Twitter storm kicking off over something I’ve said or done. You have to decide whether it matters, whether it actually is going to have any bearing on what you say or do the next day, or whether you will be offered another contract, or if people will spit on you in the street," he said.

Insisting he's never had his contract withdrawn or changed, he added: "I've never had a contract withdrawn or altered. It doesn’t cross over into real life. I couldn't give a stuff! I really, genuinely, couldn’t give a stuff because I know that it doesn't matter. I'm still here and I’m still being asked to work, and nobody spits on me in the street, there is no impact in the real world."
