Alton Towers crash amputee Leah Washington was sent a round of pink shots by her groom-to-be for her hen party in Portugal.
Leah, now 25, from Barnsley is about to marry Joe Pugh who was also a victim of the roller coaster crash. He’d popped the question during a romantic getaway to Italy last year The pair were involved in a horror crash on The Smiler ride in 2015.
Leah lost her leg in the accident while Joe had his kneecaps smashed and has lost the use of one finger. But the pair have since become an inspiration as they’ve shared their recovery journey. At the weekend, Joe posted on Instagram a picture of the 15 pink shots he’d paid for and said: “All the hens think I’m being a 10/10 boyfriend but am I or am I planting seeds for my stag next weekend?”
Leah with around 13 pals celebrated her hen in the Algarve where she was filmed drinking shots at the Thai Beach Club and later belting out tunes on the karaoke. She looked delighted as she posed for Instagram shots, wearing an oversized bride hat with heart-shaped sunglasses.
Sadly they reported how their flight was cancelled on the journey home but it failed to dampen their spirits. Lean and Joe, both 25, have spoken before about how they drifted apart after the accident.
'I'm spending £20k on a new bathroom - but won't help my brother out with cash'Leah told OK! Magazine: "If you’d told either of us during the weeks that followed our horrific accident at Alton Towers that we’d be planning our wedding now, I don’t think we’d have believed it" The pair, aged just 17 and 18 at the time, were sitting at the front of their roller coaster carriage when it rammed into a stationary car at 50mph.
