E4's new dating show inspired by David Haye’s 'throuple'

A new dating show which has been inspired by David Haye's throuple is set to "put Love Island to shame".

E4 are set to be launching a whole new programme for singletons to find love, but with an unconventional twist. Love Triangle has seemingly been inspired by the former heavyweight boxer's love life as the shocking new show sees six single people spend 48 hours texting two suitors. They will then have to choose one of them for a blind date.

The new couple will move in together shortly after meeting. However, in a dramatic twist the person they originally rejected will later move into the same home - forming a love triangle. As the series comes to an end, they will have to choose the one partner they want to keep dating. The show echoes David Haye, Sian Osborne and Una Healy's 'throuple' which eventually saw the Saturday's singer leaving claiming she was "hoodwinked".

A TV insider told The Sun: “Love Triangle will be full of twists, turns and bombshells. It will put Love Island to shame when it comes to the amount of drama. They have scoured the UK for singletons to take part and there are some big characters, so there is plenty of passion." Love Tringle has already launched in Australia, having been developed by the same people behind popular show Married At First Sight.

Channel 4 commissioning editor Lee McMurray told the publication: “When it comes to romance, most of us have a type we want, who often disappoints. We fail to spot the match we need, who could make us truly happy. I’m confident British audiences will be gripped by this radical rejection of our current looks-based, swipe-right dating culture.”

The news of a new dating show comes after the broadcaster axed another one despite it being renewed for a second series. Five Dates A Week will not be returning even though it was previously being renewed for another season. It was just one of the multiple other shows that have been culled. Channel 4 originally wanted a second series of the programme which was originally titled Five Guys A Week.

However, it has been reported that the show will not be making a come back. The subject of the programme was for one single person to invite five potential partners to spend a week with them in a cottage all at the same time. This gave the person with the power of choosing the opportunity to compare between the different dates at the same time before deciding who they had the best connection with. As the dates go on the singleton gets to know the different contestants as they whittle down the partners.

A Channel 4 spokesperson said to The Sun that the show did not get commissioned beyond a second series. They said: "The series last aired in May of last year and no subsequent series were commissioned at that point." The news came after the network axed multiple shows including Danny Dyer's Scared Of The Dark and Four Weddings. Many fans were worried that the hugely popular Naked Attraction had been cancelled, but Channel 4 have since confirmed it has not been.

A spokesperson said: "Naked Attraction has not been decommissioned and a new series will return to Channel 4 next year. Scared of the Dark enjoyed a celebrated first season with excellent linear and streaming performance. Channel 4 is in robust health – however like all commercial broadcasters we’re taking some precautionary measures - such as rephrasing some content and production - in response to a downturn in the ad-market. The vast majority of our shows have not been affected."
