X Factor winner James Arthur has debuted a new hairstyle, just weeks after he was trolled for wearing a wooly hat during a TV appearance in summer.
The singer, who won the X Factor in 2012, has lightened his hair and is wearing it long in a 70s style shaggy hair do. He was spotted showing off his new locks which have been lightened to a much brighter auburn hue as he arrived for a radio appearance on BBC Radio 2 in London on Saturday (19 August). The musician looked every inch the off duty rockstar as he teamed his new hairstyle with a denim shirt, skinny jeans and black Chelsea boots and topped his style off with a pair of sunglasses.
The singer has opened up about a recent TV appearance which saw him hide his hair completely underneath a thick knitted hat, despite the summer temperatures rising.
James explained that he felt "forced" to wear the hat, as he said: "I've had a lot of stick about the hair. That's why I thought I'd put it under the hat today so people can listen to me and not comment on the hair."

The star also recently opened up on his experience of becoming a father, as he confessed that becoming a dad has made him view women in a new light, leaving him in tears, and also having an impact on his physical body.
The star became a dad to daughter Emily, who was born in November last year, revealed to The Sun on Sunday: "I have cried and I never used to cry, but I have more so since she was born. I have got four sisters as well and I think I look at women probably in a different way, and just people in general."
He added: "I think it has matured me quite a bit, actually. I just look at things a lot differently now. The moment she was born, I just gave less of a f*** about all the minor things."
James proudly announced the arrival of his daughter in November last year - and got a tattoo of her name in celebration. He took to social media at the time to share a video of himself cradling the tiny baby. He declared at the time: "Dear Emily, welcome to the world. You are my blood, you are my heart beat."
