EastEnders airs the return of a familiar face in Walford next week on the BBC soap, just months after they made their big return on screen.

Anna Knight's attempts to lure her mother Rose Knight back into her life leads to a comeback, but it's not who she's hoping for. Anna remains unaware that her mother Rose's true identity is Cindy Beale, a former Walford who knows many of the residents there.

The twist is that Walford believes Cindy is dead after she was killed off on the soap off screen in 1998. Cindy actually went into witness protection, and in this time she met George Knight and had children with him, including daughter Anna.

Viewers recently saw Cindy return in a twist, with her now hiding out in France with her ex-husband Ian Beale. Ian has not told his family, asides their son Peter Beale, that Cindy is alive and they are back together.

Anna recently went behind her family's back and contacted a private investigator to track down her mother, and next week spoilers revel she finally makes contact - or so she thinks.

The character calls her mum and leaves a message explaining she’s in Walford and how she misses her every day. Meanwhile, her love interest Bobby Beale is worried about his grandmother Kathy Beale's plan to sell the family chippy and makes contact with his brother Peter.

As Anna sends a scathing text to her mum, believing she's being ignored, we see it's actually Peter who is getting them. He intercepts his mother's phone, unaware of who Anna is - until his dad Ian reveals he has two sisters in Walford.

Ian pleads with his son not to tell Cindy that Anna is in Walford, as he deletes the messages and call history. What he's not expecting is Peter fleeing France and heading back to Walford to meet his siblings.

His arrival causes a stir with Ben Mitchell and Bobby, while Peter is worried to learn his brother and secret sister are enjoying a budding romance. The next morning Peter is full of regret, and has to hide what's happened from Cindy who calls her son.

Peter covers but Bobby orders his brother to leave, unaware of what is about to unfold. Cindy senses something is not right and declares to Ian she is going to Walford to get Peter. He convinces her not to leave by insisting he’ll make Peter come home - but is it only a matter of time before she learns about Anna and makes her comeback?

EastEnders airs Mondays to Thursdays at 7:30pm on BBC One and BBC iPlayer.
