Moscow has come under a new drone attack this morning with an explosion near the Karamyshinsky hydroelectric power station.
Airspace over the city’s Vnukovo international airport, and over Kaluga city, was closed as videos showed a drone buzzing close to the Russian capital. At least two were reported, causing major disruption to Vladimir Putin’s largest city. An aircraft-type UAV was shot down by Russian air defences, according to unconfirmed reports.
The wreckage was found outside City Hospital Number 67, Mash reported. Other media reported an explosion in Krasnogorsk, Moscow region. A drone was seen flying over Novorizhskoye highway. Govorit Moskva news agency and Baza reported an explosion near the Karamyshevskaya Embankment, in western Moscow, close to Karamyshinsky hydroelectric complex.
Video shows multiple ambulances as well as fire appliances at the scene. One video highlighted the terror felt by Muscovites as Putin’s war comes more and more to the Russian capital.
A voice is heard saying: “A drone came right here. A drone? Yes. It nearly reached us. They closed air space over Vnukovo [airport]. So it didn’t reach us…by only a little. No words… it landed near the [river] lock. God help us, what a nightmare.”
Baby boy has spent his life in hospital as doctors are 'scared' to discharge himMoscow mayor Sergey Sobyanin said: “An attempt was made to fly over the city by one drone. As a result of the air defence work, it was eliminated. No-one was hurt when debris fell in the area of Karamyshevskaya embankment. There are no serious damages. Emergency services are on the site.”
Despite this one woman reported: "There was quite an explosion. My window up on the 10th floor cracked. I screamed, my window cracked." Russian officials routinely play down the impact of Ukrainian strikes.
